American freestyle motocross legend Carey Hart took some time off between his intense Hart and Huntington tours to ride with Motorex KTM freestyle rider Matt Schubring at his private training facility in Boonah, QLD. Schubring's home track is renowned in the motocross industry for being one of the most challenging dirt bike parks in the world, and it was too hard for Hart to pass up riding while he was travelling through Australia. Hart had only just finished performing at the Brisbane leg of the Hart and Huntington tour before travelling to Boonah to try his hand at some of Schuie's innovative jumps. Schuie has opened his facility up once before to the public when he held ‘Schuie's Winter Warmer' last August. There was a full days racing of mini bikes and just a taste of the freestyle motocross jumps including the huge 180 feet hill jump that made the crowd feel like they were in a ‘Crusty Demon's' video. "I love this place. The variety of tracks, and jumps that Schuie has built here are amazing. You can ride for hours, and keep finding new jumps to conquer which is the reason I started riding. The way he has used the shape of his land to his advantage is brilliant" Carey Hart said. Australia's best riders all converged at Schubring's compound which included X-Games bronze medallist Blake ‘Bilko' Williams, Supercross and FMX champ Robbie Marshall, SuperX AFMX champion Kain Saul and ShowtimeFMX rider Matty McFerran. "Watching the Aussie's tear up the technical jumps at Schuie's has been a standout of my whole trip." Carey explained. Carey Hart was one of the first pioneers of Freestyle Motocross in the 1990's and early 2000's. Carey continually pushed the boundaries of what thought could be done on a motorcycle and invented some of the most popular tricks in the world including the Hart Attack which is named after Carey, and he also performed the very first back flip which was thought to be impossible in 2001. Carey Hart has been performing at his own Hart and Huntington tours which are the lead up to his wife Pink's ‘Funhouse' concert at each venue around Australia which is a free to the public event. "After being here (at Schubring's) I would love to have a set up like this back home with my wife Pink. I can see Schuie and his wife Lesley have worked hard to have this property, I loved it, I love this whole area and it's so peaceful," added Hart. Matt Schubring is no stranger to building jumps on properties though, with four training facilities of his own around the Boonah area to train on his KTM 250 SX for Motorex KTM freestyle team. The skills he has developed over the years with track building will become even more important with South East Queensland's dire need for a public trail bike riding park. Schubring also noted that if there was enough public support from the Scenic Rim shire he may open up another event in the future to showcase his world class freestyle motocross jumps.
