With just two rounds of the 2009 Australian Motocross Championship remaining to be contested, Yamaha is well on target towards wrapping up a spectacular double victory in the ADB Manufacturers' Cup.Blue bikes lead the way in both Pro Open and Pro Lite classes, amassing points week in, week out through superior speed and consistent, reliable finishes. At the conclusion of round six, Yamaha's YZ450F factory and privateer pilots had collected an incredible 1402 points. This total has been bolstered by three outright wins by CDR Rockstar Yamaha's Cheyne Boyd, plus one win apiece to fellow CDR rider Jay Marmont and MXRad's Andrew McFarlane. Consistent finishes from the likes of MXRad's Beau Ralston and privateer entries including Matt Haworth, Kieran Hall and Robbie Marshall have topped up the account. Serco Yamaha duo Kirk Gibbs and Mitch Hoad have helped put Yamaha in the best possible position to take the Manufacturer's Cup in the Pro Lites class for the three of the four years on offer. Fellow YZ250F riders, MX Rad's Danny Anderson and Ryan Marmont plus a range of privateer pilots have contributed to the total of 763 points. Yamaha Motor Australia Manager, Motorsports Division, Ray Howard said the ADB Manufacturers' Cup illustrated the depth of talent within Yamaha's factory and privateer outfits. "Yamaha is on target to take victory in both Pro Open and Pro Lites classes of the ADB Manufacturer's Cup, a feat not yet achieved by any manufacturer since the award was established in 2006," said Howard. "It's a solid indication of rider talent, team dedication and the performance and reliability of the YZ450F and YZ250F race bikes which are setting the pace at the control of factory and privateer riders. "The extended break ahead of round seven will allow time to prepare for the exciting run to the season's chequered flag at Lakes and finally Coolum. "As well as the Manufacturers' Cup awards, Yamaha is strongly-positioned to take back-to-back Pro Open victories after a dominant season from our leading YZ450F riders." The final point-scoring opportunities will come at Lakes on July 26 (round 7) and Coolum (round 8) on August 2.
